President- Shelley Styles
Shelley is a graduate from the Algonquin SSW Program class of 82. She has been employed at the College as Professor/Coordinator of the SSW Program since 1989. Shelley has been recently been appointed to the position of Chair of General Arts and Science.

Francophone Director- Benoit Dupuis
Benoit has been a full time professor at La Cité collégiale in the Technique de Travaille Social. Benoit is an active member of the Ontario Social Service Worker Educator's Association.

Treasurer- Heidi Friesen-Kobayashi
Heidi is a RSW and is the field placement co-ordinator and teacher in the Algonquin College Social Service Worker Program.

Provincial Correspondent- Heather Jeffery
Heather is our provincial Correspondent. She is a graduate of the Algonquin SSW program and works as a Family Shelter Caseworker, run by the City of Ottawa.

Research Director- Brian D'Arcy
Brian was a full-time professor in the Algonquin SSW program for 21 years and a part-time professor for a number of years.

Registrar- Jessica Cox
Jessica is a graduate of the Algonquin SSW Program and of the MSW program at Carleton University. Jessica is a Student Success Specialist and part-time teacher at Algonquin College.

1. Who can join?

We are accepting all Social Service Workers from Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology.

2. What is the cost for joining?

The cost for a Social Service Worker Association membership is $45.00 per year. A SSW student in their final term can join for $35.00.

3. What are the benefits of membership?

As a member you will receive: a membership card, a quarterly newsletter; access to the OSSWA.ca website for information and resources; free entrance to our annual conference; an opportunity to share your views through our provincial Voice. You will also be eligible to apply for Group liability, and health and dental insurance.

4. Is this Association affiliated with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers?

No, the OCSWSSW is a regulatory body. Our Association provides support to SSW graduates at a grass roots level, as per our objectives.
